MAD, Mad Hatter's Tea, Tea Parties...

Mad Hatter Tea Parties held at locations in Gilling West and Richmond, North Yorkshire, took place to celebrate two momentous occasions, most importantly to say good luck and farewell to the 'Enhanced Care Scheme' team who has for the past few years worked tirelessly entertaining and supporting the residents of the Sheltered Accommodation units and also to welcome a new Company who launches their special brand to the Market on the 7th April 2008, The Mad Hatter Tea Company. Easter being around the corner the Easter Bunny made an appearance which pleased the crowds who gathered to see what was going on completing a spectacular 3 in1 event.

All the residents of the Sheltered Accommodation Units from Oswin Grove Gilling West, Lile Close, and Queens Court Richmond had a Mad Hatter's Tea Party to remember, they were invited to meet The Mad Hatter, Alice, The White Rabbit, Mrs. Bunny (The original Bunny Girl), and last but far from least the Easter Bunny who made a special guest appearance. There was also Vintage Cars that both the residents and the crowds gathered to see. Tesco donated Hot Cross Buns, Plants came from Ravensworth Nurseries, Scones warm straight from the oven from the Kings Head Richmond kindly cooked by Nigel and Tea direct from the Mad Hatter Tea Company, where all available to sample.

'It was a great day to remember' said one of the residence of the Sheltered Accommodation Unit, 'Every thing was perfect even the weather. We were all rather excited that Mrs. Bunny (the original Bunny Girl) was going to come to our Mad Hatter's Tea Parties, this alone was just extraordinary, but I heard a whisper that Mrs. Bunny had asked her close friend the Easter Bunny to pop in too. What a day!'

Food and prizes where generously provided by many local business who helped support the event.

NEWS RELEASE!

Mad Hatter is a whimsical character initially encountered at a tea party in Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’.

With the Mad Hatter’s unique connection with tea, it seems appropriate to blend them both together so that everyone can experience a great cup of Tea. After all when all is said and done there is nothing that beats a ‘nice cup of Tea’.

Lewis Carroll pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson attended Richmond School in the North Riding where his Genius was first discovered.
Charles Dodgson senior, Lewis Carroll’s father became the Rector at Croft-on-Tees in 1843 moving the family from Daresbury in Cheshire, subsequently he became Archdeacon of Richmond and Canon of Ripon Cathedral, North Riding of Yorkshire became their family home for over 25 years.

Local historians purport that the ‘Walrus and the Carpenter’ was originally conceived during one of Lewis Carroll and his friends regular visits to Whitby while walking barefoot along the beach at Sandsend.

Mad Hatter Tea is a quality blend that will be officially launched on the 7th April 2008, more details to follow shortly...
